2014 International Conference Attendance Nears 600 Attendees!

Global Reinsurance Trends, Captive Ratings, and Applying ERM Practices to

Investment Portfolios Were Hot Topics

MINNEAPOLIS,  March 19  ─ The 2014 Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) International Conference March 9-11 saw record attendance with 133 first time attendees, a sold out exhibit hall, and enthusiastic participation in the educational sessions.

“We’re especially pleased to see the increased participation of captive owners and managers,” said CICA president, Dennis Harwick, adding that the 2014 International Conference was almost 20 percent larger than any previous CICA conference.

“Sessions focused on best practices, positive outcomes, and strategies to expand the use of captives as companies grow. In addition, the multiple networking opportunities provided attendees with the chance to generate contacts throughout the captive world,” Harwick added.

As the only domicile neutral trade association for the captive industry, CICA provides a unique opportunity for networking within the industry’s top service providers, regulators, and domicile association leaders. The CICA conference now includes an annual gathering of the Captive Association Leadership Council (CALC), which is comprised of representatives from all of the captive domicile associations and related groups. “During the CALC meeting, we explained the initiatives that CICA is taking to address industry challenges that cross jurisdictional lines – such as challenges from the OECD and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, along with a wide ranging discussion of reputational challenges and issues of common concern,” said Harwick.

The 2015 CICA International Conference is scheduled for March 8-10, 2015 at the Loews Royal Pacific in Orlando, FL.
